In accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, an individual study plan shall be drawn up for each doctoral student. This plan shall contain the undertakings made by the doctoral student and the university, as well as a timetable for the doctoral student’s study programme. The plan shall be adopted after consultation with the doctoral student and his or her supervisor. The individual study plan shall be reviewed regularly, and amended by the university to the extent required.
At the time of admission, the Faculty Office creates an outline of a study plan in the Mid Sweden University Research Database. The doctoral student and his or her supervisor are notified of this and they are encouraged to enter the information and approve the study plan as soon as possible.
At the end of each year, the study plan shall be reviewed and approved by the doctoral student and his or her supervisor. The research faculty follow up on the study plans for all the doctoral students within the subject area. The Board of Education on a Research Level decide on the study plans for the faculty’s doctoral students.
The Doctoral Student
In consultation with his or her supervisor, the doctoral student enters information about the planned and completed elements of their study programme into the study plan. Results that have been registered in Ladok and publications that have been entered into Diva are transferred automatically.
The supervisor helps the doctoral student to plan the year to come, allocates credits for the completed sections of the doctoral student’s thesis (milestones) and approves the individual study plan.
The Research Faculty
The research faculty follows up on the individual study plans for the doctoral students within the subject area.
The Board of Education on a Research Level
The Board of Education on a Research Level approves the individual study plans for the doctoral students within the faculty.
