The Department of Chemical Engineering is located at Campus Sundsvall. The department conducts research and education in Energy Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
Fibre Science and Communication Network (FSCN) is a multi-disciplinary research centre at Mid Sweden University. Within FSCN, research is carried out that creates new areas of application and business opportunities for materials based on sustainable biomaterials from the forest. The research assignment will be conducted within FSCN and focuses on the area of deep eutectic solvents and process development for new products and materials that can be manufactured from high yield pulp. The post is located at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, but part of the research work will be carried out in collaboration with companies such as Valmet and Stora Enso, so some travel may be required.
Duties: Research (90-100%) within the field of deep eutectic solvents, and teaching and other administrative tasks (0-10%) may be included as needed.
Qualification: To be qualified for this position, applicants must have a PhD within a field such as chemical engineering, organic chemistry, wood chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials science or another field suitable for the project.
We are looking for a person with good knowledge in the field of wood-polymer properties, and more specifically in delignification. It is also important to have general knowledge on pulp and paper technology. Applicants must be able to independently design and carry out experiments and contribute within a multi-disciplinary applied R&D team. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is a requirement.
Employment and start date: The position as a research engineer is limited to 1 year and has a scope of 100%, with the start date subject to agreement.
