The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Mid Sweden University spans over two cities and has campus located both in Sundsvall and in Östersund. The work at the department includes education in multiple subjects, including History, Literature Studies, English, Swedish, Religion Studies, Criminology, Gender Studies, Sociology and Political Science, as well as research.

The education in Criminology is given at undergraduate level, but there are plans to offer a bachelor programme (B.Sc) as well as a master programme (M.Sc) in Criminology in the near future. The research topics within the subject are oriented towards general criminology and the applicants will have the opportunity to develop their own research projects.

Job description
The main responsibilities that the position entails are teaching and supervision of students at the undergraduate level, as well as education curriculum development and designing of courses. A part of the position may be dedicated to research. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development and organisation of the subject of Criminology, as well as to the development of the research environment. Administrative duties may also be included.

Qualifications
An applicant is qualified as a Senior Lecturer if he or she has a PhD or a relevant foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a PhD, has pedagogical education in higher education, or has gained equivalent knowledge and shown pedagogical skill in some other way (HF 4 kap 4§; Mittuniversitetets anställningsordningListen). Applicants may have their background in Criminology or in an equivalent subject, preferably in Sociology or Psychology.

Basis of assesment 
Equal importance will be given to the pedagogical/didactic skills as to the research competence of the applicant. The research competence will be evaluated based on the quality and quantity of the submitted documentation. The pedagogical/didactic skills will be evaluated based on demonstrated teaching experience as well as the quality of teaching.

Desirable for the position is having previous research within the criminological field, previous teaching experience in criminology and to be able to teach quantitative methods.

Administration: The position will be processed in accordance with the Swedish Higher Education Act, 4th Chapter, (Högskoleförordningens 4 kap.) and in accordance with the employment procedure of Mid Sweden University.

Position details: Full-time, Tenure-Track position. The position will be filled as soon as possible or in agreement with the department. Six months probationary hiring is applied.

Place of position: Sundsvall or Östersund. Since a large part of the education is offered at Campus in Sundsvall, continuous presence at Campus Sundsvall is expected.
