During 2013, Mid Sweden University performed an assessment of its entire research; ARC13 – Assessment of Research and Coproduction at Mid Sweden University 2013. The result of the broad assessment is presented in a book which offers an overall picture of the research at the university.
The assessment was undertaken by 45 international experts who evaluated all 33 different areas of research at the university. The main purpose was to obtain a general view of the quality of the research and to serve as a reference for the quality development of the research environment.
In general, the research was considered to be of high quality and of great importance for the surrounding society. Many of the areas received the grades ”good” or ”very good” and some received the top grade, ”excellent”, for their scientific quality and impact on society.
The assessment also identified areas of improvement. Such an area is the need to better formulate strategies for certain research areas and to make sure that strategies and aims are implemented in the daily activities.
